Responsibilities

Policy Research: (30%)

  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and data collection on a wide range of African policy issues.
  • Monitor relevant news, policy developments, and academic publications.
  • Conduct in-depth background research for podcast episodes, identifying key talking points, relevant data, and current developments.
  • Contribute to the drafting and editing of research outputs, including policy briefs, commentaries, reports, and short analyses.
  • Maintain and organise research databases and resources.

Outreach - The Africa Hour Podcast: (20%)

  • Prepare concise and comprehensive research briefs and interview questions for podcast hosts.
  • Identify, vet, and coordinate with international expert contributors, ensuring a diversity of perspectives.
  • Fact-check information and statistics to present in podcast episodes for accuracy and credibility.

Project Coordination – Executive Office (EO) Portfolio: (30%)

  • Assist in the preparation of concept notes, research proposals and grant applications.
  • Organise and prepare materials for meetings, conferences, and high-level events for the EO.
  • Track progress and report status of the EO project portfolio, including the pipeline and program schedule for the podcast.
  • Facilitate weekly EO team meetings to manage urgent items, schedules, and deadlines.

Executive Office (EO) Administration: (20%)

  • Manage complex calendars, including scheduling internal and external meetings, appointments, domestic and international travel logistics for the EO.
  • Support in drafting, editing and managing executive correspondence, internal communications and presentations.
  • Oversee administrative functions for the EO, including expense reporting and records management.
  • Act as the central point of contact to manage EO access and availability.
  • Manage highly confidential information and files with discretion and integrity.
