Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership:
● Partner with the CEO to lead the organization, providing input into strategic direction and decision making.
● Strategic Foresight & Sector Intelligence - ability to identify emerging trends, shifts, and innovations in philanthropy, civil society, and tech. You anticipate where the sector is heading and act on it.
● Lead the development and execution of EPIC-Africa’s program strategy in alignment with its mission and vision.
● Collaborate with the CEO and the Board to refine long-term goals and impact metrics.
2. Program Development and Oversight:
● Design, implement, and evaluate programs that strengthen the capacity, visibility, and sustainability of African CSOs.
● Oversee the expansion of EPIC-Africa’s flagship initiatives, such as the African CSO Platform, African CSO Excellence Awards, knowledge generation, and other initiatives.
● Ensure programs align with organizational goals and address key needs within the African civil society sector.
3. Partnership Building and Resource Mobilization:
● Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with donors, foundations, governments, and corporate partners.
● Support fundraising efforts by identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and stewarding donor. relationships.
● Represent EPIC-Africa at regional and international forums to amplify the organization’s voice and attract new partners.
4. Team Management and Development:
● Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
● Provide leadership and support to program staff to ensure excellence in project delivery and impact measurement.
● Promote professional development opportunities for team members.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL):
● Develop and implement systems to measure the effectiveness and impact of EPIC-Africa’s programs.
● Foster a learning culture by using data and insights to inform program improvements and strategic decisions.
● Share key findings and success stories with stakeholders to demonstrate impact.
6. Advocacy and Thought Leadership:
● Position EPIC-Africa as a thought leader in the African civil society and philanthropy sectors.
● Contribute to public discourse through reports, op-eds, and speaking engagements.
● Advocate for locally led development, inclusive philanthropy, and stronger civil society infrastructure.
