Gender Expert

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION

The Gender Expert will play a central role in mainstreaming gender and youth inclusion across all EU-TAF activities.

Key responsibilities include, but will not be limited, to the following:

• Conducting an annual gender analysis of the programme and developing an internal Gender Action Plan to define goals, track progress, and ensure accountability.

Collect and analyze sex- and age-disaggregated data related to trade, supporting the implementation of the AfCFTA Protocol on Women and Youth. Results will be monitored through sex-disaggregated indicators and documented through internal reporting aligned with the Logical Framework.

• A toolkit will be developed to guide gender and youth inclusion in both pre-identified and on-demand technical assistance activities.  

• Gender-sensitive secondments, missions, and studies to RECs and Member States will be coordinated, prioritizing legal and regulatory reviews that affect women's and youth's access to leadership, finance, and trade.

• The expert will support capacity-building initiatives on AfCFTA gender commitments and facilitate inclusive events, including dedicated spaces for women- and youth-led enterprises.  

• Internal team training on gender mainstreaming will be conducted regularly.  

• The role also includes integrating gender into the communication strategy and procurement processes, promoting gender rights through programme activities, supporting on-demand technical research and training, and fostering good practices and knowledge exchange.

• Collaboration with partners will be essential to ensure technical assistance proposals are gender-responsive and aligned with the programme’s strategic goals.
