Description
SCOPE OF WORK
(1) Technical contributions to GWP knowledge platform (60 days).
1. The consultant will support the effective deployment of the GWP knowledge platform by leading on the delivery of communications tasks and scaling up knowledge exchange and transfer across the program. In playing an advisory role to the platform team, the consultant will complete the following tasks:
a) Advise GWP knowledge platform on communications best practices, including but not limited to the provision of photography and editorial guidance.
b) Organize an accessible content management system for the knowledge platform to access a repository of existing images, b-roll footage, and other multimedia assets.
c) In coordination with the KM team, deliver communications trainings with GWP project teams with a view to building their communications capacity, including through basic training on communications strategy and more targeted tutorials on communications approaches and latest trends.
d) Produce four quarterly program newsletters (in English, French, and Spanish) using Constant Contact with inputs from and coordination with the Knowledge Platform team. The newsletter facilitates knowledge exchange across the broader GWP community, collating and disseminating content across GWP topics, regions, and partners in a cohesive manner. Newsletters to be disseminated in September, December, March, and June.
e) Working closely with M&E specialists, identify new approaches to translate key program results and impact into communications and outreach material, including to amplify documentation and dissemination of replication and scaling up across projects, peer-to-peer learning, and the value added of the GWP knowledge platform.
(2) Implement external GWP communications strategy (35 days).
The consultant will implement an external-facing communications strategy for the GWP. The consultant will complete the following tasks:
a) Working with the External Affairs Officer, develop a GWP communications strategy and annual work plan/calendar outlining communications objectives and the types of approaches, contents and assets that will be used to meet objectives.
b) Work with the GWP’s Website Management Consultant on maintaining and updating the GWP program page, ensuring quality checks and organizational consistency.
c) Create an ongoing series of social media campaigns that highlight GWP’s work, targeting high profile species days and other international days relevant to GWP (e.g., Indigenous peoples day, tourism day). Work with designers to prepare visuals around the written content. Liaise with the ENV Communications Team to ensure that posts are promoted through WB and GEF channels.
d) Update the GWP’s brochure in coordination with the Program Manager and External Affairs Officer.
e) Explore communication avenues (LinkedIn, Panorama, etc.) to share GWP content and if needed, setting up a GWP account on social media platforms.
f) In coordination with External Affairs Officer, develop a series of feature/multimedia stories showcasing the impact of the program.
g) Draft and review written material including talking points for senior management, Forewords for knowledge products, speeches, and blogs, etc.
(3) Capacity building and support to GWP projects (25 days).
2.The consultant will work with project teams, assessing communications needs, providing support and expertise as needed, and building up the partnership behind the GWP with communications counterparts in project teams. The consultant will complete the following tasks:
a) Establish and maintain a working group of communications focal points across GWP project teams and implementation partner teams.
b) Proactively solicit inputs and operational examples from GWP project teams for program communications.
